Neoproterozoic plate tectonic process and Phanerozoic geodynamic evolution of the South China Block

چکیده

The South China Block is situated in the Eastern Asian margin. Since Neoproterozoic, its tectonic evolution was constrained by successive consumption-closure processes of Paleo-South China, Proto-Tethys, Paleo-Tethys, and Paleo-Pacific oceans. Studies suggest that this block initially formed Neoproterozoic assembly Yangtze Cathaysia blocks following subduction-accretion Ocean. Then after, it experienced three tectonic-magmatic events Phanerozoic. Among these events, Late Mesozoic tectonism-magmatism linked with consumption Ocean, while Silurian Early to Middle Triassic took place intracontinental settings were related far-field effects closure remote Proto-Tethys Paleo-Tethys oceans, respectively. collision at 980–820 Ma between Jiangnan Orogenic Belt Proto-South Continent, followed a rifting tectonics bimodal volcanism 810–760 Ma. From 760 460 Ma, under shore, shallow sea slope depositional environments. During Ordovician Devonian (460–400 Ma), an orogeny occurred mainly as response Shortly afterwards, underwent stable carbonate deposition during Devonian- (400–230 Ma) thus shore or environment. In Middle-Late (240–220 affected deformation S-type granitic magmatism. Cretaceous, multi-stage basin-and-range framework western Plate.

The Distribution and Composition Characteristics of Siliceous Rocks from Qinzhou Bay-Hangzhou Bay Joint Belt, South China: Constraint on the Tectonic Evolution of Plates in South China

The Qinzhou Bay-Hangzhou Bay joint belt is a significant tectonic zone between the Yangtze and Cathaysian plates, where plentiful hydrothermal siliceous rocks are generated. Here, the authors studied the distribution of the siliceous rocks in the whole tectonic zone, which indicated that the tensional setting was facilitating the development of siliceous rocks of hydrothermal genesis. According...

Pre - Plate - Tectonic

Geological models of subduction zones impact thinking about many of the central problems in the structure, dynamics, chemistry, and history of the solid earth. Should those models change, the effects will reach across the earth sciences. We are currently in the midst of such a change, brought on by several causes. First, the earth science community recently began an organized, multi-disciplinar...
